El Paso Electric’s 1st Quarter Earnings Report

El Paso Electric lost $5.8 million in the first quarter of this year — the company’s first quarterly loss in more than a decade, company officials said Wednesday.

The loss was mostly due to delays in getting the company’s proposed rate increases in Texas and New Mexico through the regulatory process — a process that is ongoing, company officials said.

The company had a profit of $3.5 million for the January-March quarter in 2015.
