Mitsubishi HVAC Mini-split Pre-launch

Solar Smart Living New Product Pre-Launch: Mitsubishi Mini-split

We had a great pre-launch and thank all of you for participating.  Please take the time to post comments about what your experience was like.

We took a select group of our customers through a formal prelaunch of our new Mitsubishi Mini-Split Ductless HVAC Systems.   The pre-launch was designed to gather information from these solar customers, so we may understand better the issues that are important to them.  Concerns ranged from understanding their existing solar energy use to air quality and system monitoring was but a few.

Check back regularly for updated survey results.   The links to the published results are below.

Survey Results and Analysis

Part 1:  Tell Us About Your Solar Energy System

What we learned from this part of the pre-launch is that most solar customers want to be able to monitor their energy production and consumption.  It also helped us see that there was still a need for addressing energy costs during the peak summer months.  This is reflected by the graph above.   Most people agree that their cooling cost represents the bulk of the remaining summer energy costs.

Part 2:  Air quality and comfort: Using your Solar Energy at its best

This part of the pre-launch survey helped us understand more about their environment, comfort, and air quality.  Air quality is important and customers still have a varying amount of energy costs during the hot summer months.  If we could address this and lower those energy costs, we could provide even more value.

Part 3Aesthetics and Controls

This part of the pre-launch survey illustrated the balance between aesthetics, controls, and function.   It is apparent that controlling a device using an app on our phones seems pretty important.   This is a valuable benefit.   Voice control of devices (eg Alexa and Google Voice) did not seem so important.  How well a system works is more important than how it looks.  That seemed to be the feeling conveyed by the majority.

Summary

In a nutshell, if solar customers can lower energy costs for cooling their homes during the summer we can have an impact on their overall energy costs.  Making the cooling systems more efficient, use less energy, and improve air quality in the rooms we spend the most time in, will help reduce that summer energy bump.   And, if we can use our own solar energy to do this, it’s a win-win all around.

As a result of the pre-launch survey, we were able to fine-tune the section of our website dedicated to air quality and comfort as well as the design of several individual systems and solar packages.  To learn more, visit the Solar Smart Living HVAC Section.
