Some solar companies sell high priced solar panels that will cost home owner’s an extra $1 per watt because of their “Efficiency”.

If you buy a 6 kW solar system that could add up to an extra $6000 in cost! Is the higher efficiency panel worth it? Not from what the data shows. In fact, the lower efficiency panels dominate the solar industry with respect to the total number of panels sold world wide. It comes down to how many panels you will need to use on your roof to produce the same amount of electricity. The higher efficiency panel may require one or two panels less for the same amount of electricity production.
